Guy-Philippe Bouchard has been a member of the Québec Bar for over 10 years. He joined the Belleau Lapointe team in 2020, after having practised in litigation and claims management in a multidisciplinary firm offering legal and insurance services.

Guy-Philippe has a solid background in civil and commercial litigation, particularly in construction and insurance law. He typically represents general and mechanical contractors, both as plaintiff and defendant, in civil liability cases involving all stakeholders in the construction industry. He has also developed a specialization in advising clients on insurance coverage denials. 

Guy-Philippe has pleaded before all of Québec’s civil courts and before a wide range of administrative tribunals. Having also graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physics from McGill University, he is especially interested in cases with a large scientific or technical component.

In his spare time, Guy-Philippe enjoys participating in the governance of the daycare centres and clubs attended by his children. 

  • Represented general contractors and real estate developers in matters of denial of coverage from their insurers.
  • Represented a general contractor and a property developer in an insurance matter which resulted in a landmark decision of the Québec Court of Appeal on the insurer’s obligation to defend: Développement les Terrasses de l’île inc. et al. c. Intact, compagnie d’assurances, 2019 QCCA 1440 (leave to appeal to S.C.C. refused, 38895 (9 April 2020).
  • Represented mechanical contractors in several construction disputes pertaining to the design, construction, and production of the work.
  • Represented real estate owners in various latent defect matters.
